The process of compressing air raises its temperature and concentrates atmospheric contaminants, primarily water vapor. Consequently, the compressed air is generally at an elevated temperature and 100% relative humidity

Refrigerated industrial air dryers

Refrigeration technology is by far the most used dryer technology, and is applied to more than 95% of industrial applications.

Refrigerated air dryers use the same cooling principal as typical air conditioning units in homes across the world. Using the refrigeration system and passing compressed air through a heat exchanger, the air is cooled to approximately 3°C/40 °F. As the air cools, water droplets begin to form in the air due to condensation much like the water droplets that form on the outside of a cold drink.

The moisture laden air then undergoes a mechanical separation process where the liquid or “condensate” is separated from the air stream. The air is then rewarmed using the incoming air which lowers the relative humidity of the air and traps any remaining moisture in a vapor form.

The nano R2 range of HTR high temperature refrigerated compressed air dryers are specifically designed to provide clean, dry compressed air for the unique demands of high temperature compressed air applications. The unit's integrated pre-cooler allows for 50°F/10°C outlet dew points even with inlet temperatures as high as 180°F/82°C. The zero air loss drain, provided as standard, adds to the dryers energy efficiency and reliability.

The nano R4 DXR direct expansion refrigerated air dryer offers a reliable, cost effective and simple solution to those who need quality dry compressed air for their manufacturing processes. With an all in one heat exchanger, standard zero air loss drain and environmentally friendly refrigerants the dryer provides a steady, guaranteed dew point combined with low pressure drop.

Variable Speed Dryers

The nano VDR variable speed refrigerated compressed air dryers use a refrigerant circuit and heat exchangers to cool compressed air so that it condenses the moisture in the air. They can provide a pressure dew point (PDP) as low as +37.4°F/3°C and consume no compressed air in the process. Unlike direct expansion dryers which run continuously at full speed, the nano VDR variable speed refrigeration compressors only run at the speed required to dry your process air to the dew point set point of the dryer.
